Majestic Singapore Bound Queen Elizabeth Calls By Freo

The majestic Cunard cruise ship Queen Elizabeth is currently on a 31 days, one-way cruise from Melbourne to Singapore via New Zealand. She departed Melbourne on 14 February 2023 and berths in Singapore on 17 March. She came through the heads at Fremantle’s North and South Mole pretty much dead on 6.30 this morning.

QE is a ‘transit ship’ today, which means a number of passengers will disembark for the day to do touristy things before returning and travelling on to the next port in Bali, departing Freo at around 10 pm tonight.

Here are some facts and stats on the QE’s visit to Freo today that we are sure you’ll find interesting –

* Passengers: 2,086
* Crew: 1001
* Passengers disembarking: 1,311 (31 international & 1,280 domestic)
* Passengers embarking: 1,322 (all international).

We understand that around 170 passengers are on pre-booked tours today, with something like 775 QE visitors discovering all the nooks and crannies of Fremantle during the day and into the early evening.

If you see someone looking a little lost around Freo today, wearing a lanyard around their neck, do stop and say hello and make them welcome!

Here’s a gallery with more pics from QE’s arrival in Freo this morning, from off the Moles, to being led into the Inner Harbour by Sealink’s Quokka1, and finally as she begins to turn to tie up at the Passenger Terminal with the assistance of the mighty tugs.

By the way, night departures of big ships like QE are quite spectacular for those standing on the quay waving goodbye, so you might want to hoof it down to the Port tonight and watch the spectacle and take a few snaps of QE departing

So far on the current 31 day cruise, after leaving Melbourne, QE has visited Fiordland National Park, New Zealand, Dunedin, Lyttelton, Wellington, Auckland, Russell and the Bay of Islands, back to Melbourne and then on to Adelaide, Albany, Busselton, and today Freo.

After leaving Freo tonight at around 10 pm, the QE will sail to Benoa in Bali and then on to Jakarta, before finally arriving in Singapore on 17 March.

What a cruise it will have been for those who have sailed the whole journey!

QE has been a regular visitor to Freo in recent years. She last called by on 30 November 2022. Here’s our story on her arrival then with more fabulous pics of her: Queen Elizabeth – From All Angles, North & South.
