Sailing into a Trump-free Sunset, and other cruise news

Donald Trump is preparing for his second four-year term as POTUS, and it seems about 63% of Americans are either happy or at least satisfied than he won.

So what about the other 37%? Well, for less than US$40,000 a year, one American cruise company is offering punters the choice of an opt-out escape.

A Florida-based company, Villa Vie Residences, announced multi-year packages earlier in November. People can join its ship, Odyssey, at any port as it traverses the world for the next four years. Odyssey will travel to 425 ports across 140 countries.

The Tour La Vie trip offers a variety of extended stays aboard the Villa Vie Odyssey, including a one-year ‘Escape from Reality’ cruise, a two-year ‘Mid-Term Selection’ cruise, a three-year ‘Everything but Home’ and a four-year ‘Skip Forward Trip’ for Americans ‘who feel threatened’.

Passengers can escape to the high seas by becoming long-term residents aboard the refitted 31-year-old cruise ship.

Back here in Freo, there is no need to escape; it’s the place to be with Festivals, Concerts and Exhibitions all around town. The weather is picking up and the beaches are beckoning.

In two weeks time, on 8 December, the cruise ship Westerdam is arriving on a transit call

And on 10 December, the fabulous small luxury cruise ship, Le Jacques Cartier will make her maiden call to Fremantle.
