$150,000 Up for Grabs to Strengthen Fremantle Communities

Local community groups across Fremantle, East Fremantle and Cockburn have the chance to secure a share of $150,000 in federal funding, with Round 10 of the Albanese Government’s Stronger Communities Programme now open for expressions of interest.

Federal Member for Fremantle Josh Wilson MP has invited incorporated not‑for‑profit organisations and local governments to put forward small but impactful projects that improve community infrastructure, boost participation, or help purchase essential equipment. Grants range from $2,500 to $20,000, with projects capped at a total cost of $50,000.

Josh Wilson says Fremantle has long punched above its weight in the national program. Over the past nine rounds, almost $1.5 million has supported nearly 120 local projects, helping neighbourhood groups upgrade facilities, expand services, and strengthen their capacity to serve the community.

Round 10 continues that focus, with funding available for initiatives that deliver social and environmental benefits — from ICT upgrades and sporting equipment to projects supporting climate adaptation, native flora and fauna, mental and physical wellbeing, and social cohesion.

Incorporated not‑for‑profits can apply for up to 100% of project costs, while local governments can seek up to 50%.

Expressions of interest must be lodged with the Fremantle electorate office by 5pm AWST, Monday 26 October 2026. A local consultation committee will assess proposals, with shortlisted applicants invited to submit a formal application to the Australian Government.
