Now, here’s an interesting news item – especially for the commercially minded.
It has all the attributes of Location, Location, Location!
Fremantle Ports is calling for applications from the business community to lease and operate the B Shed café on Victoria Quay.
The café sits at the eastern end of the heritage-listed B Shed, which houses ticket offices for Rottnest Island ferry operators and is adjacent to the departure point for island and river ferries at Fremantle Harbour.
The lease, which commences from mid-year, is on offer for five years with an opportunity to extend for a further five years.
Manager Corporate and Community Relations Neil Stanbury said the development of Victoria Quay meant the café lease was a potential high-yield opportunity for the right lessee.
“In recent years we’ve seen visitor numbers to Rottnest increase hugely and many of those people depart from, and return via, Victoria Quay.
“The new Gage Roads Brewery development in the adjacent A Shed is scheduled to open this summer, creating another major boost to Victoria Quay, which will further add tourist and local visitors to the precinct,” he said.
“Victoria Quay is on the cusp of becoming an exciting new civic and community hub in the immediate years ahead and our Waterfront Masterplan will guide that new development”, Mr Stanbury added.
Fremantle Ports will consider offers from potential tenants that propose an improved and/or expanded use of the site.
Mr Stanbury further observed:
“We think the café not only has one of the best locations in Fremantle with views across the harbour, but the outdoor area could be further developed in association with the right tenant and the style of café offering could be unique and exciting.”
And perhaps, one day, once again, we will be able to see cruise ships passing by!
Requests for Proposal must be lodged by Friday June 4, 2021. Full information can be found at here (Reference no: FREPRT-959344)
