Bondi Royal Commission to Commence Hearing Block 1

The Royal Commission on Antisemitism and Social Cohesion will hold its first hearing block in Sydney between Monday 4 May 2026 and Friday 15 May 2026.

The Bondi Royal Commission had advised today that Hearing Block 1 of the Commission’s inquiry will focus on:

  • Defining antisemitism.
  • The nature of antisemitism, in its historical and contemporary manifestations.
  • Lived experiences of antisemitism, and its impacts on Jewish Australians in various domains.
  • Metrics for assessing the prevalence of antisemitism in institutions and society, including through incident reporting and survey data.

“It is vital for the work of the Royal Commission that we hear directly from Australians who have experienced antisemitism first-hand. I would like to thank those people who have already made a submission to the Royal Commission and who have been prepared to share their story with us,” said Commissioner Bell.

Commissioner Virginia Bell AC SC

Members of the public will be able to view the livestream of the hearings on the Royal Commission’s website. There will also be limited public seating at the venue. Details will be available on the Royal Commission’s website shortly.

The Royal Commission wants to hear from the community and welcomes submissions from members of the public and institutions on all aspects of the Commission’s terms of reference.

Submissions can be made on the Royal Commission’s website
