The @Freo Australian Tourism Award Winners

Here they all are! And btw, WA picked up 3 Gold, 7 silver and bronze too!

After being announced Australia’s ‘Top Tourist Town’ this time last year, Fremantle/Walyalup was chuffed then to be a chosen as the host city for the 2026 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.

Freo secured the 2026 event through a collaborative bid led by Tourism Western Australia and Business Events Perth, with support from the Rottnest Island Authority and the City of Fremantle. Hosting these prestigious Awards has brought hundreds of industry leaders to Fremantle, including federal and state tourism ministers, heads of marketing bodies, and key decision-makers shaping Australia’s tourism future.

The Australian Tourism Awards, presented by the Australian Tourism Industry Council, are the pinnacle of recognition for the tourism industry, celebrating the achievements of tourism operators from across the country. With more than 25 categories, the Awards showcase the very best in major attractions, cultural tourism, accommodation, restaurants, and more.

And last night, after a couple days at Rotto/Wadjemup frolicking with the quokkas, the Awards for 2025 were announced at an industry knees-up at Fremantle Prison attended by some 900 folk.

All up, WA picked up 3 Gold, 7 silver and bronze medals too.

These WA awards come on top of Pinky’s Beach at Rotto/Wadjemup recently being named Australia’s No 2 Beach!

At the Round House in Freo this morning, some of the winners of the 2026 Awards, some with sore heads, paraded their excitement at their successes. As they say, Winners are Grinners! Federal Fremantle MP Josh Wilson was on hand to congratulate them all.

Here are the medal winners and all the finalists in the various categories. Have a look, they’re an impressive bunch. A good guide to what to do and where to stay and dine on your next holiday!
