Bus Lane Only – Day 4

’The more things change, the more they stay the same’

So, the Day 4 report on traffic activity at the intersection of Canning Highway and Stirling Highway, East Freo is ditto Days 1,2 and 3.

One is left with the clear impression that vehicles quite deliberately line up in the red Bus Lane Only, despite suitable sign posting before they get there, and with clear markings of the red Bus Lane Only. And then nonchalantly proceed through!

Here are some pics, taken in sequence, from just after 10 am, of the view as you approach the intersection travelling west into Freo. In the last pic you will see the couple cars, well ahead of the grey one, that nonchalantly went straight through!

And here are two more pics of traffic approaching the intersection from Freo in the other direction, travelling east. The white van you can see, followed by two buses, is in the red Bus Lane Only and blithely proceeded through when the B light turned green!

Otherwise, we must say – based on a 7 am report from a Shipee and this just after 10 am visit -that traffic is moving smoothly in all directions through the intersection.

Folk at Main Roads WA and The Alliance must be getting ready to start popping champagne corks!
