Interview with Chrissie Maus – New CEO Fremantle Chamber of Commerce

It’s only 8 weeks ago Wednesday, since Chrissie Maus took up the cudgels as the Chief Executive Officer of the Fremantle Chamber of Commerce in this, the Chamber’s 150th year.

Chamber President, Mr Lee Bartlett, welcomed Ms Maus describing her as a ‘brave business advocate and civic leader’.

The Perth-born Ms Maus comes well credentialed as the former head of the largest retail and entertainment precinct in Australia – Melbourne’s Chapel Street.

In 2018, she was the National Future Leader of the Year winner.

No stranger to getting her message out, Ms Maus is an AICD graduate and, during the pandemic, was an Opinion Writer for The West Australian newspaper.

Mr Bartlett added: ‘Chrissie Maus brings fresh eyes to WA’s cultural epicentre and an energy that is contagious. Her diverse background will add significant experience and reinvention to the Chamber’s team, and we look forward to working with her to reimagine the Chamber’s membership offering and engaging with our local Fremantle businesses’.

Chair of the City of Fremantle’s Destination Marketing Working Group, Linda Wayman said that ‘as someone who saw Chrissie start out on her career, I have had first-hand experience of her enthusiasm and commitment to whatever she sets her mind on. That enthusiasm and talent has taken her a long way and Fremantle will now benefit greatly from Chrissie’s varied experience, notably in representing the Chapel Street retail brand.’

With these wonderful endorsements we were very pleased Chrissie Maus accepted our invitation to make a podcast with our Editor, Michael Barker, discussing her new role, the role and ambitions of the Chamber, destination marketing, and all things Freo. One thing is for sure, as Mr Bartlett said, Chrissie will bring a contagious energy to her new position.
