Maps to take your breath away!

Back in December ‘21, we featured Sara Drake’s show of illustrated and sculpted maps at the Doghouse Gallery in South Fremantle. Her 3D maps took our breath away.

Well, since then Sara has moved into a studio space in central Fremantle and this coming weekend 11 & 12 March will be holding an Open Studio and Print sale. Her Studio will be open each day between 10am – 4pm.

The address is 1A Pakenham Street. It’s the Old Genesis Travel Building (with the wonky cupola on top) at the corner of Pakenham and Phillimore Streets.

The building had been empty for a while and now Sarah Booth of SpaceMarket has organised to rent it out to small businesses, artists and start ups, whilst the owner decides what happens next.

Sara has a few maps and some high quality prints, as well as greetings cards for sale.

The original maps are usually made to commission and Sara has a very long waiting list, but she will have a couple of her most recent original maps on display, including a large map of Fremantle, one of India, and a really big one of Margaret River.

Sara will also have couple of works in progress on display, so you can see how her amazing 3D maps are made. You really need to see her 3D art to believe it.
