It was great to see Freo’s reputation as a music town enhanced over the long weekend just gone, with Siena Rebelo being announced a winner, along with Mia June, of the Emerging Artists Award at the 2023 Nannup Music Festival.
Siena is one of Fremantle College’s Year 12 Specialist Contemporary Music students. She performed at the Festival with her band, which included Year 12 classmates Kayden Hickey and Sage Phillips as well as Freo College Music Program Alumni (now WAAPA students) Jarrad Hemara and Reuben Cope.
Here’s a few more pics of Siena and her bandmates from the Nannup Festival.
Of Siena, the Festival said –
From Walyalup (Fremantle), emerging singer/songwriter Siena Rebelo writes about the world around her with refreshing openness and honesty. In 2021 Siena won the Fairbridge Festival Act Belong Commit Quest Song Writing Competition and the Nanga Festival Youth Scholarship and is rapidly building a reputation for her high energy performances on the local music scene.
Fremantle College had a strong presence at Nannup this year, with the Alumni group – The Stamps – also on the program.
It will come as no surprise to learn then that the Specialist Contemporary Music Program at Fremantle College is very popular and highly thought of. As it happens, applications for the Year 7, 2024 intake are currently open. You may be interested!
If you are, the College is holding a number of events for interested families. Parents can register here to attend the College’s upcoming Webex Information Sessions or Specialist Tour Afternoon.
Sounds like an opportunity too good to pass up!
