When lightning strikes

Saturday morning. Suddenly hail hit from nowhere in South Fremantle. Then a huge clap of thunder. And a bolt of lighting. Talk about electric power.

And before we knew it a stretch of South Freo along South Terrace from Scott Street to Douro Road and roundabout was powerless. Literally.

And closed off to traffic.

Homes and businesses affected.

The cause? Lightning struck a power pole on South Terrace near the colourful East West business.

It’s taken Western Power one day already to attempt to restore power. Poles have to be removed and replaced.

Here’s a picture of how things looked early afternoon Sunday.
