Cameras have been busily rolling in Freo and Perth

Jean Hudson reports on the Screenwest and BBC Studios Industry Showcase of shows coming to your TV screens very soon!

I was delighted to represent Fremantle Shipping News at the premier of Ghosts and Reckless on Thursday night. Thank you, Luna Leederville.

It was wonderful to be able to rub shoulders with the creative teams, cast and crew at the pre screening reception. Uncle Vaughan McGuire opened the event with a beautiful Welcome to Country and Rove McManus MC’d the evening.

A huge crowd attended the screening along with Minister Simone McGuirk MLA, Chad Anderson, Director General, Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport and many more.

Attendees had a first look at episode one and two of Ghosts and the first episode of Reckless, along with a Q&A from the cast of both shows.

RECKLESS

I’m not allowed to give too much away . . .

Here’s what Screenwest says: ‘What happens when a hit-and-run cover-up tears a family apart? Well it’s messy. It’s funny. It’s Reckless’

Reckless the new SBS and NITV Original, supported by Screenwest. It’s a bold, brave and funny First Nations drama set in Fremantle. This BBC Studios Productions takes the viewer on a high-stakes thrill ride. It features a powerhousecast—Tasma Walton (The Twelve, Mystery Road) and Hunter Page-Lochard (The Newsreader, Critical Incident). Clarence Ryan, Perry Mooney, Kelton Pell and Maddie Young. There is a strong WA cast .

Reckless is an adaptation of BBC’s Scottish mystery thriller TV series Guilt, written by Neil Forsyth.

The production was made possible by our Government’sinvestment through the Western Australian Production Attraction Incentive. It is expected to inject more that $5 million into the WA economy and creating 250 jobs.

And what makes it so special – it was filmed in Freo.

Reckless, a 4-part TV Mini Series premiers on Wednesday, 12 November at 8.30pm on SBS
