The award recognises a Western Australian woman (who does not have to be a Soroptimist) who has made a significant contribution to her chosen field and to the community.
The winning recipient will receive a monetary grant to a maximum sum of $10,000 to undertake a project over two years that will benefit women and girls.
This is a project that aligns with the Soroptimist International (SI) vision and objectives –
Objectives of SI: #education, #eliminationofviolence, #economicempowerment #foodsecurity, #healthcare, #environmentalsustainability (water and sanitation), #conflictresolution (peace promotion), and #DisasterRelief.
Vision of SI: That “women and girls will achieve their individual and collective potential, realise aspirations and have an equal voice in creating strong, peaceful communities worldwide”.
In 2023, Andrea Creado won the prestigious award. As CEO of Ishar Multicultural Women’s Health Services, Andrea’s award recognized her work on the “Connecting Communities” project, which supports older refugee and migrant women facing social isolation.
The bi-annual Award is supported by Soroptimist International clubs in WA.
