A Take On Minimalism Exhibition - Interview with Sarah Jenkins

We here at the Shipping News are very please to share the news that Air Bare is holding their first aerial photographic exhibition, A Take on Minimalism, through the Fremantle Arts Centre at the Moores Building Art Space in Henry Street, Fremantle from this Saturday, 17 February through to 3 March at 10-3pm daily.

Air Bare is the creative collaboration of mother and daughter duo, Sarah and Lucy Jenkins who are excited to show you their colourful, eye-catching, unique, quizzical and quirky photographic images that enable you to see the world from an entirely different perspective – up high, looking down!

Here’s some of their exciting work you’ll discover at the Exhibition.

Lucy is an architectural graduate working with world-renowned firm Foster + Partners in London. Sarah is an artist, living in Fremantle, who is confined to a wheelchair as she has muscular dystrophy and can’t operate a conventional camera. However, she is able to operate the drone with its remote control sitting in her lap.

Together Sarah and Lucy, mother and daughter, have become a multiple award winning and globally recognised team who share a passion for minimalism. They have achieved international recognition from the US to Germany and beyond, having won awards and have been published in high-end coffee table books and calendars. They were the recipients of Capture Magazine’s Australasia’s Top Emerging Photography Award in the Single Shot category in 2021.

Our editor, Michael Barker, was pleased to catch up with Sarah Jenkins in Freo recently to make this podcast where we discuss Sarah and Lucy’s discovery of their art form, how the Air Bare duo came in to being, what to expect in the Exhibition, and just how some of their amazing photographs were made!
