14 of 15 WA Covid Cases Connected With Visiting Vessels

There are now 15 active COVID-19 cases being monitored by WA Health: one in hotel quarantine; three in hospital from the MV Darya Krishna; six onboard the MV Darya Krishna and five onboard the MV BBC California.

So 14 of the 15 active covid cases in WA have a Fremantle connection via ships in Port.

Late yesterday, WA Health transferred six COVID-19 negative people from the MV Darya Krishna to hotel quarantine.

One MV Darya Krishna crew member remains in ICU in a stable condition. The other two crew members are in a stable condition on a respiratory ward.

WA Health has reported no new cases of COVID-19 overnight.

The State’s total stands at 1057.

To date, 1033 people have recovered from the virus in WA.

More generally, WA Health continue to monitor a Queensland report of a man who travelled from Brisbane and arrived in Perth by plane on 18 July. The man, who tested negative to COVID-19 at Perth Airport, did not have approval to enter Western Australia and returned to Queensland aboard a flight on the morning of 20 July. He tested positive to COVID-19 on 27 July.

Though considered extremely low risk, WA Health asks everyone at Perth Terminal 4 between 4am and 7am on 20 July to monitor for symptoms and get tested immediately if they develop.
