A Community-Led Creative Campus for Art, Learning and Exchange
**Sunday arvo free music sessions are back!**
Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre is a creative campus committed to fostering a community of innovation and inspiration, collaboration and curiosity, risk taking and rigour. We are both a cultural and a learning precinct situated in Walyalup (Fremantle) on Whadjuk Nyoongar Boodjar in the centre of a city celebrated for its innovation, culture and creativity, shaped by the many communities who call it home.
Spread over a four-acre site and housed in a gothic heritage building, our annual program includes contemporary visual arts exhibitions and a diverse range of multidisciplinary performance, music and discourse. We support a unique artist in residence program, extensive creative learning programs and we are home to a café and our FOUND shop – celebrating the highest quality creations of WA makers and designers. We also manage and curate the Moores Building Contemporary Arts Space in the West End of Fremantle.
WFAC’s commitment to supporting local artists is at the heart of all the centre’s programming and activities.
WFAC presents and commissions contemporary art by artists working locally, nationally and internationally. All exhibitions are free, ensuring the visual arts program remains accessible and inclusive for everyone.

Dual Nature – Tammi de Rooy and Sarah Eve
13 October – 8 November 2026
Launch night Thursday 15 October 5pm-7pm
Dual Nature brings together two Western Australian artists, Tammi de Rooy and Sarah Eve, whose work explores the Australian landscape through very different visual languages.
Tammi’s detailed oil paintings focus on atmospheric light, wildflowers and the quieter moments of regional Western Australia, while my Abstract Realist paintings explore geology, waterways, ancient rock formations and deep time.
The exhibition will be held at Palette Fremantle in North Fremantle, just metres from Leighton Beach, from 13 October to 8 November 2026.
They are also holding an opening reception on Thursday 15 October from 5pm to 7pm, where visitors can meet both artists, view the exhibition and join an informal evening of art and conversation overlooking the coast.

Global Echoes
Friday 6 November 2026 5:30pm – midnight
Global Echoes, the Fremantle series created by the team behind Red Earth, returns to its home ground at Freo.Social on Friday 6 November. For the first time, it’s teaming up with Mahico, a Northern Rivers collective that has spent six years building gatherings around Latin American music, food and culture.
Headlined by Chilean composer and multi-instrumentalist Rodrigo Gallardo, co-founder of the pioneering electronic folk project Matanza. Gallardo blends charango, Andean flutes and voice with deep electronic rhythms, and he’s played Cercle, Fusion and Envision. This is Gallardo’s first Australian tour in three years, and Fremantle is his only WA date. Don’t miss out!

A Musical Evening with Charlie and Goldie (supported by Tim Darby)
Friday 13 November 6pm – 9pm
Charlie & Goldie are a big-sound-duo, giving melancholic lyrics to the tune of stomp-boxing indie folk.
Goldie’s love of intimate piano folk is complimented by Charlie’s raucous guitar, their styles blending as beautifully as their vocal harmonies. They create a frenetic and friendly onstage chemistry, balanced by lilting violin.
Having toured from north to south of WA, from Lancelin to Denmark, Charlie and Goldie are ready to share their music as far as they can.
2024 saw Charlie & Goldie shortlisted to support Boy & Bear, performing at Nanga Music Festival, with 2025 seeing their first WAM Song of the Year nomination.
With the fullest of hearts, this collaborative passion project exists to celebrate each other’s music and artistry – Charlie & Goldie are a powerhouse duo to watch closely.
Charlie and Goldie will be supported during the evening by Tim in one of his incarnations . . .
As always bring snacks to share in the break.

FROM THE ARCHIVE
Friday 13 November | 6 – 8pm
Looking back through 22 years of Artitja has been an interesting exercise. Among the works gathered over that time are works that have rarely been seen, others that have never been exhibited, familiar favourites and some more recent arrivals. Bringing them together has been an opportunity to revisit the breadth of artists, art centres and stories that have shaped Artitja over the years.
The result is a varied selection of contemporary First Nations art, with a lot to discover for those who have followed us for years and those coming to Artitja for the first time. We’re looking forward to sharing it with you, and seeing you there.

Kambarang/Birak Exhibition Season (‘Net of Time’ and ‘Legal Ghost’)
Friday 20 November 2026 6:00 – 8:00 pm
Please join us to celebrate the opening of our Kambarang-Birak exhibition season!
As the weather warms, our Kambarang-Birak season presents two exhibitions that foster connection and invite us to consider new ways of working together. Grounded in artistic collaboration, with a rich focus on processes of mutuality and dialogue, the works and experiences presented by these artists are responsive and create networks of sharing and exchange.
NET OF TIME is a long-term collaborative project by Munich-based artist Helen Britton and Perth-based artist Justine McKnight, that explores personal and cultural memory through wearable forms, talismans, sound and textile assemblages.
Legal Ghost is the culmination of almost a decade of collaboration between WA-based artists Stephen Brameld and Jay Staples. In a process akin to surrealistic automatic painting, the artists suppress conscious control of the art-making process and access material from their unconscious and shared processes. The artists describe their collaboration as forming a third mind or space, generating a new perspective (or ghostly presence) that sits outside of artists intention or ego.

White Ribbon Day 2026 Public Memorial Exhibition — It Takes All of Us
Friday 27 – 29 November 2026
Fremantle Community Legal Centre is inviting the community to pause, reflect and remember at a public memorial exhibition marking the international day to raise awareness and call for the elimination of violence against women and children.
The White Ribbon Day 2026 Public Memorial Exhibition will be held from Friday 27 November to Sunday 29 November 2026 at the Walyalup Civic Centre foyer, providing a powerful and respectful space to honour women and children who have lost their lives due to domestic and family violence.
The memorial exhibition will feature a white rose representing each life lost in Australia since January 2026, with a story displayed alongside every rose. Visitors are invited to walk through the exhibition, read the stories and reflect on the lives represented and the devastating impact of family and domestic violence on individuals, families and communities.
The exhibition will formally open at 9.30am on Friday 27 November, with a community opening event and guest speakers.
This year’s White Ribbon Day theme, ‘It Takes All of Us’, highlights the collective responsibility we share in creating safer relationships, challenging harmful attitudes and preventing violence against women.
As part of the exhibition, visitors will be invited to contribute to a community commitment wall, sharing a personal action, pledge or reflection about how they can help build safer, more respectful communities. Throughout the weekend, these contributions will form a growing visual representation of the many ways people can play a part in preventing violence and supporting positive change.
