In collaboration with Rotary Attadale, Fremantle Chamber Orchestra presents a Festive Season Concert to help the homeless.

FCO Director, Hans Hug explains that all profits from the concert ‘go towards the cause’. Rotary Attadale and the Sponsors mentioned in the flyer that follows have ensured these charities will substantially benefit from the concerts profits: St Pats (starter kits to help people just entering housing); PortCare (to assist with buying a new delivery van); New Mobile Dental Van Service; and other Rotary projects in the area.

HANS’ NOTES ON THE CONCERT
Mozart’s “Salzburg Symphony” K136 features a brilliant and energetic opening, a warm and elegant slow movement, and a spirited finale. It is the perfect festive opener.
Venetian Alessandro Marcello’s Oboe Concerto is a Baroque masterpiece with an expressive Adagio and energetic outer movements featuring oboist Niamh Dell – about whom you see more below – in her soloist debut with FCO.

Niamh Dell will also play the magic Adagio from Albinoni’s Oboe Concerto 2.
Giovanni Bottesini, the “Paganini of the Double Bass” was a virtuoso supreme who astonished with effects previously unimaginable. The amazing John Keene, who will also conduct, is soloist in Bottesini’s Double Bass Concerto 2, a romantic master piece.

The absolutely gorgeous Meditation for violin from Thaïs by Jules Massenet is “florid, tender, sorrowful, dramatic, and ultimately divine” featuring fabulous violinist Rebecca Glorie who has played with FCO since its inaugural concert in 2005.

Britten’s powerful Sarabande from his Simple Symphony and Brahm’s fiery Hungarian Dance 5 complement the program beautifully.
This fundraiser for the homeless will be a brilliant end to FCO’s 20th anniversary celebrations!
