Freo helps Perth to 15th Most Liveable Global City

The fascinating 2025 Global Liveability Index by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) is just out!

Perth ranked 15th most liveable city in the world, maintaining its strong position from 2024.

While Fremantle isn’t listed separately, we can be sure its cultural richness and coastal charm contributed significantly to Perth’s overall score.

As to other Australian cities, here’s how they fared in the 2025 rankings:

* Melbourne – 4th. High scores across all categories, especially culture and infrastructure
* Sydney – 6th. Strong healthcare and education, improved stability
* Adelaide – 9th. Continued rise, praised for community and environment
* Perth – 15th. Solid scores in healthcare, infrastructure, and stability
* Brisbane – 16th. Family-friendly, strong education and green spaces

🏆 Copenhagen took the top spot globally, dethroning Vienna after three years at #1.

The EIU evaluates cities across five categories: stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education, and infrastructure.

• Australia continues to shine with four cities in the top 20.
• Calgary saw the biggest drop, falling from 5th in 2024 to 18th in 2025 due to declines in healthcare and stability A.
• Luxembourg and Frankfurt climbed the ranks thanks to strong infrastructure and education scores.
