Can you believe it, Kakulas Sister at 29-31 Market Street, Fremantle, turned 30 on 5 December 2024.
Kakulas Sister is a family owned business started by Eleni Kakulas in 1994 as an offshoot of her family’s business, Kakulas Brothers, in Northbridge, Perth. Eleni’s grandfather Evangelos and Uncle Stavros emigrated to Australia from Kastellorizo, Greece in 1923 and opened Kakulas Bros in 1929.
After working many years in the family business from her early teens, through university holidays and after graduating, Eleni opened her own branch on the corner of Market and Leake St in Fremantle, hence the name Kakulas Sister.
Our Editor, Michael Barker, was thrilled to sit down with Eleni Kakulas to celebrate the 30th and make this podcast about 30 years in Fremantle. It’s a great Freo story.
Happy birthday, Kakulas Sister!
