The Cuauhtemoc, which visited the Port of Fremantle in 2006, will enter Fremantle Harbour after 9.20am and berth at C Berth on Victoria Quay.

The 76.5m three-masted barque has a complement of 261 sailors in total, including 53 women.

The height of its main mast is 48.2m.

The Cuauhtemoc has indicated it will open to the public for free inspections from 11am to 5pm tomorrow (Wednesday) and between 10am and 8pm on other days in port.

Entry will be via the ramp between C and D Sheds. (Ship-open times can be checked on Fremantle Ports’ website during the ship’s stay).

The ship is currently listed to sail for Sydney at 2pm on Saturday, providing another opportunity for the public to see the ship underway.

The steel-hulled Cuauhtemoc was launched in 1982 and has since travelled more than 750,000 nautical miles, visiting 64 countries and 212 ports over more than 40 years.

The ship is the Mexican Navy’s instructional tall ship for 4th year naval cadets and plays a significant goodwill role abroad for Mexico. It has also participated in many high-profile maritime and tall-ship events world-wide, being a winner of the Boston Teapot Trophy and winner of the Cutty Sark Trophy twice.

As part of its tri-continental training cruise, the Cuauhtemoc is arriving from Jakarta and has already visited San Diego, Honolulu, Tokyo, Incheon, Shanghai, Manila and Singapore. From Fremantle it will go on to Sydney, Auckland and Papeete in Tahiti before returning across the Pacific to Acapulco in Mexico mid-December.

Updates to the ship’s arrival and departure schedule will be available on Fremantle Ports website right here.
