Today, UK time, 1 August 2023, K-Line, the charterer of Fremantle Highway issued a statement on the current state of play with the fire ravaged RO-RO.
K-Line advise that salvors arranged by the ship owner continued their efforts to extinguish the fire and recover the situation under the command of the Dutch coastguard.
According to the owner, as the fire and smoke had reduced and the temperature of the hull decreased in some places, she was towed from the accident site to a safe anchorage. It is understood from the ship owner and Dutch Authorities that the new site is 16km North of Schiermonnikoog and Ameland.
However, the final location for towing has not yet been confirmed.
According to the ship owner, 20 out of 22 personnel in hospital were discharged by 30 July, with the exception of the Captain and Pilot who remain in hospital.
As far as K-Line are aware, there is no reported oil pollution due to the fire incident.
Here are our earlier reports on the incident.
We will keep you updated as more information on the fate of the vessel comes to hand.
