The Future of Fremantle – Visioning Open Day This Sunday

Have you been following the Future of Fremantle planning project?

Here’s our introduction to the work now being done in envisaging how the Fremantle Walyalup Inner Harbour Precinct – taking in Fremantle Harbour north to Leighton – might be redeveloped over the coming years.

As we’ve said before, the project is the biggest planning exercise around Freo since JS Roe produced the original 1830s Fremantle Town Plan for Fremantle and probably the biggest development project since CY O’Connor started on the construction of the Inner Harbour in the 1890s.

You can read here just what work is being done and public engagements are being planned by the WA Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage on the Future of Fremantle project in coming months.

The next public engagement event is the Visioning Open Day this Sunday, 16 July 2023, from 10 am – 3 pm at Fremantle Town Hall where you are invited to come along, be better informed, ask questions, and put in your two bobs worth of visioning.

There’s no two ways about it: the Future of Fremantle is an amazing project that will have us talking for years to come.

Just to give you a bird’s eye view of the area we are talking about and its significance, have a look at this superb drone pic recently taken by Les Moyle.
