Have A Russian Oligarch’s Yacht, Will Travel

International media are reporting that Russian Oligarchs are busily protecting their hard-earned and toys, like their luxury yachts, as international sanctions aimed at them kick in.

For example, it is reported that Oleg Deripaska’s US$65 million Clio and oil executive Vagit Alekperov’s US$80 million Galactica Super Nova are in the move to the Maldives.

The Maldives has the status of a jurisdiction with no US extradition treaty, as well as handy harbours and good food, sun and swimming.

Oleg Deripaska’s Clio has indeed just arrived in the Maldives.

Here’s what you get for US$65 million.

In early January 2022, Clio was making her way down the Suez Canal en route to Galle, Sri Lanka.

Then she’s was in Galle heading for Male Anch, that is the Maldives where she arrived yesterday, 2 March.

We’ll keep a tab on Clio’s movements for our Shipping News readers and keep you informed.

FYI, Vagit Alekperov’s Galactica Super Nova as of yesterday was just off Dubrovnik, but underway using engine. We’ll keep an eye on her movements too!
