We’re not talking about the US Presidential Election, necessarily, but we are talking Diwali, the Indian Festival of Light!
Diwali is a festival of new beginnings and the triumph of good over adversity, and the light over darkness.
This festival in 2020 especially symbolises the community emerging from the darkness of the covid pandemic and into the light of survival, hope, love and recovery.
It is a festival of shared goodness, humility, tolerance, diversity, togetherness and kindness. Very Freo, when you think about it.
The South Fremantle Community Association Incorporated, along with a number of local sponsors and co-hosts, are closing down part of South Terrace, from around Maclaren Street to Douro Road, South Fremantle to bring to you a huge street party in celebration of Diwali and cultural diversity of the area.
A family friendly event, there will be something for everyone. A bouncy castle, petting zoo, chalk art and games for the kids; restaurants, food trucks and bars for when you get hungry and of course a huge array of entertainment including Bollywood dancers, hip hop, ballroom, salsa, Croatian and line dancers, just to name a few!
So get along on Sunday, any time between 11 am and 9 pm, and enjoy the coming of the Light!
