So Friday 3 April 2026 was Day 1 of the Freo International Street Arts Festival was and today was Day 2. Our Jean Hudson was there to catch all the action. Here’s her Day 2 report
Fremantle was packed for Day 2 of the Street Arts Festival. Here are some of my favourite shows from today and pics around Freo’s streets and Esplanade.
KICKFLIP by Just Gal Pals: from Fremantle
There are lots of amazing international shows this year, but I’ve been looking forward to KICKFLIP, created by duo Ella Norton and Jess Smart. Norton grew up in Freo, started circus school at 11, attended John Curtin College of the Arts, and now lives in Hilton. Smart used to be a drama teacher. You’ll have seen these two performers before – CircusWA and Yuck Circus.
According to Norton: ‘the show is drag circus bromance.’ The Gal Pals play two goofy 15-year old boys Oscar and Jacob who want to become pro skateboarders.
The show is high-octane comedy-circus. It takes us to the skate park where teenage ‘boiz’ chase half-pipe glory. It attracted a huge crowd. Don’t miss it!

Performance Times
Sunday
FOMO Pitch: 1pm, National Hotel Pitch: 3pm, Night Show Sail & Anchor Pitch: 7.30pm
Monday

NATURAL WINGS: AUSTRALIA
Next up Natural Wings, a visually stunning aerial dance by Dawn Pascoe. Suspended beneath a high frame, she soared and executed exquisite aerial feats – exploring motherhood and resilience.

Performance Times
Sunday Esplanade Park Pines 4.30pm
Monday Esplanade Park Pines 3.30pm
CHO KAIRIN SUPER ACROBAT TEAM; China & Japan
These guys are the kings of acrobatics; their performance is a four-generation legacy. They have incredible balance and strength. Imagine balancing on top of eight chairs stacked on four bottles on a table – without a safely net! These guys performed at heights higher than the rooftops outside the Sail and Anchor to a huge crowd. Mind blowing!

Performance Times
Sunday Sail and Anchor Pitch 2pm, 5pm & 7.30pm
Monday Sail and Anchor Pitch 1pm & 4pm
Such a fun event, Music, clowns, stilts and some crazy hairstyles, the festival has something for everyone.

Kids loved The Occulus especially, all the way from Melbourne. These one-eyed creatures roamed the Capuchino strip.

There are still two days to go – Sunday and Monday with over 160 free, family-friendly performances along Freo’s streets, parks and Fremantle’s waterfront. Catch the train or the bus into Freo and enjoy street art at its best.
