Fremantle- based Thompson Shipping Lines, a member of the Thompson Shipping Group, has just announced the acquisition of another dry bulk vessel, further strengthening the Group’s presence in the global dry bulk market.

Thompson Shipping Group is an Australian owned maritime group with interests in vessel ownership, vessel operating via Triomphe Shipping, and its marine services company Seacorp that handles ship agency, surveys and outturn management.

The Thompson Shipping Group will be well known to many Freo folk by its landmark heritage building HQ at 10 Phillimore Street in Fremantle’s West End.

Here’s Group Chairman Craig Thompson in the Group’s landmark HQ offices.

The acquisition of the additional dry bulk vessel places Thompson Shipping Lines as the leading privately owned dry bulk Ship Owner in Australia.

The vessel, soon to be renamed TSL LUSAHA, is a Japanese built 35,947 DWT Handysize dry bulk carrier to be delivered imminently. This is her!

Mr Thompson says the acquisition aligns with Thompson Shipping Line’s strategy of disciplined fleet growth, focusing on quality assets that support long-term value creation and operational reliability. He added –

“This acquisition reflects our continued confidence in the dry bulk sector and our commitment to expanding the Group’s platform with quality tonnage. We remain focused on prudent investment, operational excellence, and building a fleet that meets the expectations of our chartering partners.”

TSL LUSAHA will join TSL Rosemary in the TSL fleet. Here’s TSL Rosemary and her position off South Korea a couple days ago.
