YES23 Campaign Kicks Off At Cottesloe

Yesterday, in bright sunshine at Cottesloe Beach, and under the gaze of a large crowd of YES supporters, as well as TV cameras and reporters from a range of media, including Fremantle Shipping News, the official WA YES23 Campaign was launched by Noongar Elder, Uncle Ben Taylor.

Daniel Morrison-Bird, CEO of Wungening Aboriginal Corporation, was the MC for the event and introduced Uncle Ben Taylor and other speakers.

The large crowd filled the beach embankment for the speeches and then filed out onto Cottesloe groyne for a photo opportunity.

Before that all happened, Daniel Morrison-Bird recognised that we all have many reasons for voting Yes, but that he’s voting Yes ‘because it’s a step toward a new chapter, an offer for a hand of friendship between all Australians.’

Daniel added

Voting No leads nowhere. There are no downsides to voting Yes, only upsides

As the Uluru Statement outlines, when we have power over our destiny, our children will flourish…

Daniel exhorted YES volunteers to give the last weeks of the campaign their all, saying: ‘Whatever you do, we can’t leave anything on the field.

Daniel concluded by emphasising that, ‘When Yes wins, all Australians win.
