YES23 Campaign Kicks Into High Gear This Weekend

Yes23 – the YES campaign that brings together grassroots organisations all campaigning for constitutional recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through a voice to parliament – are door-knocking every federal electorate across Western Australia this weekend as an army of volunteers rallies across the country to have conversations about the upcoming referendum.

Hundreds of volunteers across WA’s fifteen federal electorates will congregate in local communities across the state before kicking off a door-knocking spree.

This comes as over 3,500 Yes23 campaign volunteers mobalise across the country this weekend talking to locals and undertaking activities such as doorknocking and letterboxing.

Community events this weekend include –
* Yokine Doorknock with Perth for Yes
* Door Knocking in Spearwood
* Cottesloe Beach Flyer Distribution

Spokesperson Dean Parkin said the campaign was encouraged by the support from volunteers in WA and will hold more conversations with locals in the coming months.

Our volunteers are energised to take our positive message across West Australia this weekend and will have a presence at various locations across the state stretching from Albany to Broome.

“These events are the perfect opportunity for people to learn more about the upcoming referendum through one-to-one conversations with friendly volunteers.

“This is about bringing Australians together. We are building a positive movement that includes people from all walks of life and we encourage everyone to get behind this referendum that will give Indigenous people a real say on issues that affect them.

“We now have an army of over 20,000 volunteers across the country and over 2,000 in WA alone, who are hitting the streets talking to Australians, knocking on doors, letterboxing and organising events in their communities.

“Our experience is that when you have conversations with everyday Australians, there’s goodwill, there’s positivity and there’s a strong willingness to vote Yes.
