Be quick – Book your free Harbour Tour today!

Yes, they are free!

The highly popular one-hour Freo harbour tours were last held before Covid and will run on three successive Sunday afternoons, starting Sunday 14 May.

You’ll never know what you might see – it’s only when you are out there in a small boat that you realise just how big the giant RO-ROs and large Container Ships really are.

You should also watch out for dolphins and sea birds – pelicans, gulls, terns, shearwaters, shags and night herons.

There is never a dull moment on the harbour.

A 25-metre charter vessel with seating for 45 will run three times each Sunday, leaving from the East Street Jetty in Beach Street, East Fremantle and returning to the same location.

While free, bookings on Eventbrite are essential.

Fremantle Ports’ Manager Government and Public Relations, Neil Stanbury said the tours were a rare chance for the public to see the harbour’s operations up close. ‘Many of us know the harbour and its role, but few get to see it from the water and also learn about it in detail,’ he said.

Mr Stanbury explained the hour-long tours will cover everything from ships and cargo, the river mouth’s indigenous history and how CY O’Connor built the harbour, to the Port’s vital trade role and the operations of the container terminals.

As you travel around the harbour, port staff and Friends of Fremantle Ports volunteers will talk about what the Port does to protect the environment, the State’s immigration story, tugs, pilots and everything in between.

Tickets will undoubtedly go fast, so book today.

Unfortunately, tours are restricted to those aged six and older.

And also take note that ‘enclosed footwear’ is mandatory. Sneakers!
