Silver Muse Inspires Freo!

At around 7.30am this morning, Silver Muse made a graceful entrance into Fremantle’s Inner Harbour. She’s making a transit visit and leaves again tonight at 11pm.

Here she is coming around North Mole.

Silver Muse is an Ultra Luxury Cruise Ship owned by Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd and Lefebvre Family (Rome) and operated by Silversea Cruises. She was built in Genoa by Fincantieri and launched in 2017. Building cost was €320 Million. Her last refurbishment was earlier this year.

She is on a 32-day one-way cruise from Hong Kong to Sydney. Her last stop before Freo was Lombok. Next stop is Busselton. She left HK on 18 November and arrives in Sydney on 20 December.

Here’s a gallery with more pics showing Silver Muse entering Freo’s inner harbour this morning.

Then she embarks almost immediately on a 15-day Christmas cruise from Sydney to New Zealand, which is fully booked and has a waitlist.

In fact, when I checked, all her cruises are fully booked from now through June 2024!

These luxury cruise ships generally offer the best pricing early on (several years in advance). Expect to pay between $300-$600 per person per day minimum.

As to our visitor’s name, a muse, of course, in the most basic sense, is a person who serves as an inspiration to an artist. The word itself dates back to Greek mythology, with Zeus’ daughters forming the nine Muses who presided over the arts and science.

The Silver Muse has become the Silversea fleet’s flagship and is described as an inspirational work of art – ‘the best place between sea and sky’.

She sails under the Flag of the Bahamas and boasts small ship intimacy and spacious all-suite accommodation – 96% of her suites have step-out balconies.

When I say ‘small ship’, Silver Muse has about 450 + lucky guests on board this trip into Fremantle, who are being looked after by a crew of some 350 or more – nearly one crew member for every guest!

She is 213m long, has a beam of 27m, weighs 40,700 tons and can motor along at 37kph.

While a small ship, Silver Muse has eleven decks; eight dining rooms; spacious outdoor areas; up to the minute technology; and a casino. The casino has slot machines, poker, roulette and black-jack games. Silversea reports that the average gambler spends about $50-$100 per day.

Here she is sailing into Victoria Quay in the the inner harbour, just before coming alongside at the Fremantle Passenger Terminal.

Silversea’s all-inclusive fares include one or more complimentary shore excursions on each cruise, round trip airfares, all alcohol, insurance and port charges.

We understand that 361 passengers are on pre-booked tours which means we can expect up to 90 or so visitors plus crew members exploring Freo today.

City of Fremantle will run a shuttle service from the Fremantle Passenger Terminal to Walyalup Koort from 8:30am to 4:00pm.

If you see any lost-looking folk around Freo today say gidday and offer help!

And then start saving for your own cruise in 2025!
