Bill Hare is the CEO and Senior Scientist at Climate Analytics and a climate advocate extraordinaire. He is just back in Fremantle after attending COP27 at Sharma El-Sheik, Egypt.
Bill has had a long and impressive career as a ‘climate advocate’ in Australia and internationally. If you missed our earlier podcast with Bill about his career and environmental engagements over a number of decades, here it is again.
At COP27, Bill was part of the delegation for Grenada, a small West Indian island state in the Caribbean.
Bill and Climate Analytics have long advised small island states on the implications of climate change.
Bill is also a veteran of COPs – or Conferences of Parties – having attended every one of them in person since COP1 in Berlin in 1995, except for Glasgow last year during the time of Covid.
Bill’s views on climate change policy and implementation measures internationally, nationally and locally always command attention.
On his return to Fremantle this week, Bill Hare kindly agreed to meet with our editor, Michael Barker, to make the podcast below where the topic is COP27 and its successes and outcomes.
Bill recognises there is still much work to be done to keep the planet’s temperature rise to 1.5 degrees centigrade as per the Paris Agreement. But as someone who has been engaged in the negotiation of international climate accords since before COP1 in 1995, Bill takes the long view.
This is a must listen podcast.
