And The Bridge Goes On – Now To Its DESIGN!

Main Roads WA and the Fremantle Bridges Alliance are wanting to hear from us all on the question of the DESIGN of the new two bridges – the new traffic one and the rail one.

They want to hear from us about aspects including bridge aesthetics, walking and cycling connections, heritage interpretation and urban landscaping.

Guess is, they are really talking about the traffic bridge, but we shouldn’t lose sight of the rail one as well.

Here’s an idea!

FYI, site preparation works are expected to start late in 2021, with construction starting in 2022.

You can get involved in the design issues in the following ways:
* Register to participate in one of three Community Design Forums.
* Register to participate in an online Community Design Forum – or view the recording afterwards.

Look out for the release of their Design Inspiration Document and the online Design Survey.

Almost 1,000 people completed he online survey on the alignment options in May this year.

Apparently most respondents said they wanted to be involved in the design discussions as the project develops.

Work has already begun with a Whadjuk Elders Advisory Group, to collate and understand the significance of the area to Whadjuk Nyoongar people and potential themes and stories which could be part of the design.

The designers now look forward to sharing more about this rich cultural context with the broader community.
