We have just noticed an application for a Section 40 Certificate for this site –
PORT CITY ROASTERS AT 312 SOUTH TERRACE,SOUTH FREMANTLE.
We should immediately say that this image constitutes a generic notification of an application to the City and does not purport to include an actual representation of what an application is all about.
Rather, the applicant here is plainly seeking a Section 40 Certificate to accompany their application for liquor licensing.
Liquor licences are issued by Racing Gaming and Liquor (Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries). In determining an application Racing, Gaming and Liquor require a Section 40 Certificate from the City’s planning department which confirms the planning/ zoning of the area is compatible with the type of liquor licence being applied for.
Port City Roasters has become something of a destination cafe and coffee shop on the South Terrace Strip over a few years now. Once a haunt for early morning lycra-clad cyclists, it is now frequented by fully-clothed punters, many of them reasonably well-dressed, and beach bums alike. May be even the odd cyclist among them.
And now, with extensions and renovations to the establishment recently completed, Port City Roasters has blossomed to become a bona fide restaurant and is obviously seeking permission to sell liquor with meals.
Must say, it makes sense to us to be able to have a Vermentino or Nebbiolo, or even a local beer, with your nourish bowl!
