Today, at Bathers Beach, during a gap in the winter weather, Reece Whitby, WA’s Minister for Tourism and SailGP unveiled event dates and ticket experiences for the 2027 Australia Sail Grand Prix in Freo – it will all happen on the weekend of 20-21 February 2027. Just 8 short months away.
SailGP, not described as ‘the most exciting racing on water’ without good reason, will be back in Fremantle at Bathers Beach following the sell-out success of the inaugural Freo event in January this year. The 2027 edition will welcome more fans than ever before with a significant increase in grandstand capacity.

With the support of the WA Government through Tourism WA, SailGP’s flying F50 catamarans will take on the famous Freo Doctor as the event moves to a new position on the global championship calendar as the second stop of the season. As Australia’s sole SailGP event in 2027, the Fremantle race will serve as the home race for the championship-leading BONDS Flying Roos, led by Tom Slingsby.
Here’s the 2027 schedule.

With strong demand expected, fans are encouraged to get in quick to avoid missing out.

At today’s launch apart from Minister Whitby, local Freo MLA Simone McGurk was in attendance along with Ben ‘Bull’ Durham, the coach of BONDS Flying Roos, fresh back from the last race in NYC. Ben says he F50 sailors just love the challenge of the Freo Doctor.
