Today, we are pleased to bring you Batavia  by Caitlin Maling.

Batavia

“Batavia” is a poem from Caitlin Maling’s upcoming collection “Midwest” with Upswell Publishing. It has been previously presented at the Big Sky Writers Festival 2022 and published in JASAL (an academic publication) earlier this year. It is part of a series of poems on Batavia, most of which relate to the figure of Lucretia Van Der Mylen. 

Caitlin will be appearing in Poetry in Motion for the Totally Lit festival, giving 10-minute poetry readings for small groups of people on the Fremantle Wheel.
