‘Rosie’ is set to be launched in Freo this morning.
Providing free, GP-led healthcare to those in greatest need across the Fremantle and Greater Perth region, the new addition to the Black Swan Health fleet is specifically designed to offer care to women and children fleeing family and domestic violence.

Black Swan Health have successfully run the iconic Freo Street Doctor service with support from WA Health for over two decades. The new truck, generously funded by Seacorp, hopes to help address the increasing community demand for immediate, no-cost accessible healthcare.
Doctor Alistair Vickery, Chair of the Black Swan Health Board, said that the roaming medical service will deliver services from existing women’s refuge centres across Perth.
“This approach aims to offer care in a discreet and localised way, ensuring it is available precisely when and where it is most needed,” said Alistair.
“Given the steep increase in demand for no-cost healthcare for women and children, particularly those facing domestic violence, we are immensely grateful for Seacorp’s ongoing generosity, which enables us to provide a service that is truly essential.”
‘Rosie’ will be operated by an entirely female team and will offer a range of GP services that include specialised women’s health checks, early intervention strategies and connection to other service providers to offer a person-centred approach to care that aims to meets the needs of each individual.
Craig Thompson, the owner of Thompson Shipping Group and the well-known Fremantle-based shipping company Seacorp, has kindly made ‘Rosie’ a reality. Seacorp has worked closely with Black Swan Health to provide free medical care to individuals in Fremantle and the surrounding areas since 2017.
Indeed, ‘Rosie’ joins the 2023 addition to Black Swan Health’s Street Doctor fleet that was generously supported by Seacorp, as we reported at the time, as well as the other fleet members.
Mr Thompson will launch ‘Rosie’ this morning.
