The final of The Floor Is Yours public speaking competition for tertiary enrolled women, sponsored by Soroptimists International of Western Australia, was held at Notre Dame University’s Fremantle Campus last Sunday afternoon.
In the packed Santa Maria Lecture Theatre the six finalists from the competition heats made their presentations on topics related to the issue of the impact social media can have on young women.
In order of delivery, the presentations were made by Adaeze Nwoko, Saskia Harman, Deying Pu, Simran Virk, Siya Kothari and Alexandra Nelson. Here they each are in action.
The winner was Siya Kothari whose speech was titled ‘She Is Me’.
The Editor of Fremantle Shipping News, Michael Barker was very pleased to catch up with Siya Kothari a few days later to make the podcast you will find below, in which we reflect on Siya’s win and also discuss with Kiara Gormlie, the 2023 The Floor Is Yours winner, the great work done by Soroptomists.
