Leeuwin heads into dry dock for massive refit

This morning, STS Leeuwin II was farewelled at Victoria Quay by a good contingent of Leeuwin lovers, well-wishers and media, including Fremantle Shipping News, as she headed south of Fremantle to the Australian Marine Complex at Henderson where, as we recently reported, she will undergo massive refit in the aftermath of being demasted by the Maersk Shekou and badly damaged.

Our Jean Hudson caught the early action at VQ this morning as folk mingled roundabout.

At first it was thought the Leeuwin would be towed south to the dry dock, but in the end she motored there under her own power, as this super shot by Roel Loopers goes to show.
