A Stellar Arrival for Silver Nova

It’s the Nova Way to travel.

Silver Nova arrived in Fremantle this morning on her maiden visit. She didn’t explode like a Super Nova and fade away, just glided elegantly into Port showing off her unique asymmetrical design.

Royal Caribbean Cruises, her owners, say that she is more than a new ship (‘Nova’ is ‘new’ in Latin), but that cruising on her is the Nova Way of luxury travel. She is 2 years old, sails under the Flag of the Bahamas and is operated by Silversea Expeditions, part of Silversea Cruises.

Here are some more arrival shots of her in Freo this morning.

This luxury cruise ship joined the Silversea fleet in 2023, and is the 12th ship in service with Silversea Cruises. She provides a home away from home for up to 728 guests who are cared for by a crew of 556. That is an exceptionally high crew-to-guest ratio (1:1.3). Each cabin has a private butler.

She is very spacious, offering a space-to-guest ratio of 75 GRT (gross registered tonnage) per passenger, making her one of the most spacious cruise ships ever built. Her aft cabins deliver 270-degree views. In mythology Nova is the God of space, time and reality – so her name is a perfect fit.

She is one of the new Evolution-Class ships, with the intent of providing an environmentally friendly cruising experience. The vessel is the first hybrid-luxury cruise ship, powered by a combination of LNG (liquefied natural gas), fuel cell system, and batteries, enabling her to be emissions-free while in port. Her length is 244.2 metres.

And here are more arrival shots as Silver Nova moves towards her berth in Fremantle Inner Harbour alongside the famed Fremantle Passenger Terminal.

Silver Nova is currently on a 34 days, one-way cruise from Auckland to Singapore. Her last port of call was Albany and her next is Bali. This cruise commenced on 21 January and will end on 23 February. She only has 581 guests on board today, 79 are disembarking into Fremantle and 70 new guests will board.

If you missed her arrival this morning, you can catch her departure at 6pm this afternoon.
