Christmas Hampers on the Way to Visiting Seafarers

Spare a thought for the visiting Seafarers in Freo this Christmas.

Seafarers play a vital part in international trade and commerce. They also find themselves apart from their families and friends for extended periods, including at times like Christmas when so many of us are enjoying good cheer with our families and friends.

The Flying Angels Mission to Seafarers, in collaboration with Fremantle Port Authority, Fremantle Port Welfare Committee and the generous support of other members of the Maritime industry, has been busy organising the distribution of Christmas Hampers to all seafarers visiting Fremantle Ports, both in the inner harbour and the Kwinana outer harbour.

The hampers will be delivered leading up to and over the Christmas week.

Volunteers met today, Thursday, to put together 700 hampers for the seafarers. What a mammoth effort!

The visiting ships typically have a complement of around 22 seafarers so the 700 will hopefully find their way to a good number of vessels over the Christmas week.

Here’s a great gallery of all the volunteers at work in the hampers earlier today.
