Le Jacques Cartier is the sixth ship of the Ponant Explorers class of cruise ships operated by Ponant. In keeping with the philosophy of Ponant and the Ponant Explorers, she’s a cutting-edge, modern ship with slender, tapered lines, and boasting environmentally friendly equipment and innovative technology.
The ship sleeps only 184 guests in 92 external cabins. Suites are designed to enable passengers to enjoy moments of tranquil calm and exotic escape. Cabins feature a balcony or terrace, together with large sliding glass doors that open out towards the horizon. The combination of refined decoration and comfort offered simply invites relaxation.
The décor is inspired by the maritime history of Canada. And that’s because she’s named after the famous French explorer, Jacques Cartier, a French-Breton maritime explorer (1491-1557). He was the first European to describe and map the Gulf of Saint Lawrence and shores of the Saint Lawrence River, Quebec, which he named ‘The Country of Canadas’.

The ship’s cuisine is emphatically French, offering menus in partnership with Ducasse Conseil, a company from famed chef Alain Ducasse.
