And the winner is … Short Back & Sidewalks!

Stu MacLeod, Chair of Impact100 Fremantle and Executive Officer of the Fremantle Foundation, reports in the outcome of last Thursday night’s Impact100 Fremantle’s big Awards night.

Last Thursday night, the historic Fremantle Old Boys School played host to an evening of inspiration, community spirit, and heartfelt giving at the Impact100 Fremantle Awards Night.

Over 100 members of the Fremantle community gathered to witness the power of collective philanthropy and celebrate the incredible work of four local charities making a profound impact on Freo.

The highlight of the evening was the announcement of the $100,000 grant, which was awarded to Short Back & Sidewalks, a remarkable organisation that brings dignity and confidence to vulnerable members of the community through something as simple—and powerful—as a haircut. Their service provides not just a fresh look, but an opportunity for positive human connection, helping restore self-worth and, in many cases, creating a lasting impact that can change lives.

Thanks to the generosity of the Impact100 Fremantle members and our major donors (White House Property Partners, Spinifex Trust and Ungar Family Foundation), three additional finalists— Dementia Australia, The Literature Centre, and St. Patrick’s Community Support Centre —were also awarded $5,000 each to continue their important work in Fremantle. These organisations represent the diverse ways that care and support are provided to those in need, from dementia support services to fostering literacy and creative development, to addressing homelessness and social disadvantage.

As we reflect on this event, we’re reminded that even in challenging times, our community has the power to come together and create lasting change. A heartfelt thank you to all who contributed to making this night possible. Your support is not just a gift—it’s an investment in a brighter, more connected Fremantle.
