Starring Alison Van Reeken, Sarah McNeill, and Mikayla Merks.
I attended TVM – The Vagina Monologues – for the first time on Saturday, 31 August with a friend.
It’s on at Fremantle Theatre Company, right in the heart of Freo.
Not for the faint hearted. But even if you are, whether you have ‘one’ or not, go anyway.
The play came into being through a series of 200 interviews by Eve Ensler with women discussing menopause, sexuality, and the sense of empowerment or imprisonment they feel their own vagina afforded them.
TVM has been updated over time to reflect modern and Australian audiences, much to our own crowd’s delight.
It explores often confronting themes regarding discovering what womanhood means based upon upbringing, social circles, and culture. Unfortunately, sexual violence is only on the rise and fuelled by misinformation, making this play even more relevant today.
Plenty of tears, mostly from laughter, and shocks that’ll resonate in all 8000 of your nerve endings.
And I now have a strategy for fending off lions. I am woman, hear ME roar!
On until 7 September.
You just can’t miss it!
Get your tix right here.
