The Indian Navy Ship (INS), Sumedha arrived at Victoria Quay, Fremantle yesterday on a three day port visit as part of her deployment to the Indo-Pacific region.
During the visit, the Indian Navy will take part in a range of team-building exercises with their Australian counterparts, including onboard training with NUSHIP Arafura on Tuesday and maritime exercises with HMAS Anzac on Wednesday.
The visit coincides with India’s 75th Anniversary of Independence – ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ – which is celebrated globally today, 15 August 2022.
Fremantle Shipping News was pleased to visit the ship and meet the Sumedha’s Commanding Officer, Commander P Phaneendra, Indian Defence Adviser to Australia, Captain Akhilesh Menon and Commanding Officer of HMAS Stirling Captain Gary Lawton.
