A Subsea Module: Where Next?

Freo Today. 9 February 2026. The vessel ZHONG REN 121 has been on anchor in Gage Road since  27 January. And before that she was down Henderson way. We are sure many folk have been spotting her out there and wondering what she’s all about. Thanks to Sally at Freo Ports, we can confirm the ship is a heavy-lift ship, designed for float on, float off (rather than a RoRo she’s a FoFo!). The yellow equipment you can see on the deck is project cargo for an offshore oil and gas company. A subsea module, we gather. Seems the vessel remains at anchor in Gage Roads just now awaiting a second module before sailing. Very exciting. Nice pic by Jean Hudson taken yesterday morning.
