Stalwart in Hobart

FREO TODAY

Freo Today. 7 February 2026. Only 321 days to Christmas! Here’s HMAS Stalwart (III) who arrived into Hobart on Thursday in time for the 188th Royal Hobart Regatta which is on this long weekend in Tassie. Did you know? Stalwart usually operates from Fleet Base West (HMAS Stirling) but has made the trip over specially for the iconic Regatta, which is considered to be Australia’s oldest sporting event! Indeed, Stalwart s playing the role of flagship for the Regatta, and is hosting an open day this morning on Macquarie Wharf in Hobart. And we are told, there will also be aerial displays by the RAAF Roulettes and performances by the Royal Australian Navy Band. And – members of the Stalwart crew will also be participating in the 2026 Trans Derwent Swim. Many thanks to our Hobart based photojournalist Deanna Shanahan for this great pic.
