Reef Prince in FBH

FREO TODAY

Freo Today. 7 November 2025. Here’s Reef Prince, a 38-metre expedition catamaran operated by Kimberley Expeditions, currently berthed in Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour. The Reef Prince usually operates 11-12 day Kimberley cruises between Broome and Darwin (and vice versa) between March and October each year. By the look of things she’s in the middle of a maintenance cycle here in Freo.

Built in 1995, she originally served on the Great Barrier Reef as a fast ferry before being purchased and refitted for Kimberley operations. She underwent a multi-million dollar refit in 2019, enhancing comfort and functionality

Her vital statistics?

• Length & Design: 38 metres long, custom-built as a catamaran for enhanced stability, quiet operation, and shallow draft (just 1.8 metres), ideal for navigating the Kimberley’s remote bays and estuaries.

• Capacity: Accommodates 36 guests in 18 en-suite cabins, supported by an experienced crew of 8.

• Layout: Features four levels, including three outdoor decks and a spacious bow with a shade sail for panoramic viewing.

• Propulsion: Powered by Mercedes engines with jet propulsion, allowing smooth, quiet cruising and access to shallow waters.
