Maersk Gairloch Malaysia bound

FREO TODAY

Freo Today. 11 July 2023. Here’s the MAERSK GAIRLOCH – showing the familiar Maersk blue lines – leaving Fremantle this morning, attended by Svitzer Falcon and Svitzer Eagle. As you can see, she’s a Container Ship. She was built in 2003 and currently sails under the flag of Singapore. She is bound for Tanjung Pelepas, Malaysia, a cargo port cheek and jowl with Singapore. Gairloch, by the way, is not only a street in Applecross, Western Australia, but also a village, civil parish and community on the shores of Loch Gairloch in Wester Ross, in the North-West Highlands of Scotland! Not many of Maesk’s container ships have Scottish names, but there is also the Edinburgh.
