Genesis Reborn

Freo Today. 22 April 2026. Another day. Another Freo heritage puzzle. Shipees will recall our report on the JDAP planning approval for the redevelopment of the Genesis building at the corner of Pakenham and Phillimore Streets in the West End of Fremantle. The approval raised the hackles of many, including the two City of Fremantle Council members of the JDAP, one of whom is the current Mayor Ben Lawver. Well, as you can see, the redevelopment construction work is now underway and before too long we will see the finished product. No doubt the heritage redevelopment debate will be resurrected as we see Genesis reborn. For background to the debate see our Genesis or Armageddon posts.
