ASC Lotti – ‘Lifeline to the Islands’

FREO TODAY

Freo Today. 1 August 2023. Here’s the ASC Lotti departing Fremantle late yesterday afternoon bound for Cocos (Keeling) Islands having recently arrived in Freo from Singapore. She’s a General Cargo vessel, 123m long with a breadth of 19m. So, not gigantic. But well proportioned. Her gross tonnage is 6155. Built in 2008, ASC Lotti sails under the flag of Antigua Barbuda. ASC, who operate her, provide a regular semi liner service from South East Asia to and from Western Australia and the Northern Territory using modern MPP tonnage and offering clients access to smaller and less congested ports throughout the region. MPPs are multipurpose vessels that can be used both for the transport of various goods and as a working vessel. They often have their own loading gear. General cargo vessels carry various goods such as chemicals, food, machinery, clothes, etc. Together with their Australian partner, Zentner Shipping, ASC offers a monthly service to the Australian Indian Ocean Territories of Christmas and Cocos Keeling Islands, which is where ASC Lotti is presently headed. By the way, Zentner Shipping’s motto is “Lifeline to the Islands”. Which ASC Lotti obviously is. Nice pic by Deanna Shanahan of famous Instagram duo @flotsamandjetsam6162
